Pedestrian Killed in Fatal Traffic Collison
On Thursday, July 12, 2018 at approximately 10:11 PM, Fullerton Police Officers responded to the 1800 block of West Orangethorpe Ave regarding reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers located a male in his mid 60’s with significant, life threatening injuries lying in the number three lane of eastbound Orangethorpe Ave. Fullerton Fire responded and, sadly, pronounced the male pedestrian deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation reveals ...that a 2008 Toyota Camry, driven by a 17-year-old female, was travelling eastbound on Orangethorpe Avenue when it struck the male pedestrian, who was crossing southbound across Orangethorpe Avenue. The male pedestrian was not crossing in a crosswalk at the time he was struck.
The 17-year-old driver remained at the scene and she is cooperating with Investigators. At this time, it does not appear that alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in the collision.
The deceased male pedestrian’s identity will be released by the Orange County Coroner at a time they feel is appropriate and pending notification of the next of kin.
The investigation is on-going. Anyone with information about this fatal traffic collision is encouraged to contact Fullerton Police Traffic Accident Investigator Barclay at (714) 738-6815.
