Motorcyclist Killed in Fatal Traffic Accident
On Tuesday, April 17th, 2018 at approximately 7:11 AM, Fullerton Police Dispatch received a call of a traffic collision involving a “motorcyclist down” at W. Orangethorpe Ave and S. Courtney Ave.
Fullerton Police Officers arrived shortly thereafter and located a 21-year-old male motorcyclist with significant, life threatening injuries lying in the number one lane of westbound Orangethorpe Ave north of Courtney Ave. Officers immediately began conducting CPR on the 21-year-old male motorcyclist until Fullerton Fire arrived on-scene and took over life-saving measures. Fullerton Fire transported the 21-year-old male motorcyclist to a local trauma center where, sadly, he was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:07 AM by hospital staff.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the 21-year-old male motorcyclist was travelling eastbound on Orangethorpe Ave approaching Courtney Ave when a 2018 grey Honda Civic, driven by a 21-year-old female from Fullerton, attempted to make a westbound turn onto Orangethorpe Ave from northbound Courtney Ave. The motorcycle and Honda Civic collided in the eastbound lanes of Orangethorpe Ave, causing the 21-year-old motorcyclist to be ejected from his motorcycle.
The 21-year-old female driver remained at the scene and she is cooperating with Investigators. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the collision. Excessive speed does not appear to be a factor in the collision either.
This investigation is on-going. Anyone with information about this accident is encouraged to contact the Fullerton Police Traffic Bureau at (714) 738-5313.
