D. Russell Parks Jr. High School Student Detained for Threatening to “Shoot Up” the School
On Monday, March 5th, 2018 at approximately 11:30 AM, Fullerton Police Officers responded to D. Russell Parks Jr. High School in Fullerton after School Administrators reported to police that they had received information about a student who was overhead threatening to “shoot up” the school the following day.
Multiple students came forward to School Administrators and Police to report that they had overheard a male student make statements earlier in the day that he had access ...to a handgun at his home, and that he had planned on causing violence at the school the following day.
Fullerton Police Officers conducted a search of the male student’s residence in Anaheim and officers recovered a loaded handgun, and ammunition, that were both easily accessible to the student.
State law prevents law enforcement from releasing the names of juveniles who have been arrested for crimes. A 14-year-old male juvenile has been detained for criminal threats and he is in custody at the Orange County Juvenile Hall.
This information was brought forward by numerous courageous students who knew what they were hearing the male student say was not only inappropriate, but dangerous. The Fullerton Police Department reminds you “if you see something, say something”. We are all responsible for keeping our community safe.
