Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

On Sunday, November 12th, 2017, at approximately 5:05 AM, Fullerton Police Officers responded to the area of Euclid and Rosecrans regarding a report of a single vehicle traffic collision. When they arrived, officers found that a 1994 Buick Regal had collided into the retaining wall on the east side of the intersection. There were no other vehicles involved in the traffic collision.

Fullerton Fire responded immediately and, unfortunately, Firefighters pronounced the driver (a...nd sole occupant of the vehicle) deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation shows that the Buick was travelling eastbound on Rosecrans at approximately 50 mph as it approached the intersection of Euclid. Investigators believe the male driver, who appears to be in his forties, made no attempt to slow-down for the red light at the intersection, nor slow-down for a southbound turn onto Euclid, and instead the vehicle ran the red light and drove through the intersection at 50 mph. The vehicle collided head-on into the retaining wall just east of the intersection, where the driver and vehicle were located when officers arrived.

The driver’s identification will be released by the Orange County Coroner.

The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information about the collision is encouraged to contact the Fullerton Police Traffic Bureau at (714) 738-5313.

Those wishing to provide information anonymously can call the Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1(855) TIP-OCCS or can visit their website at www.p3tips.com/913.
