Shoot or don’t shoot: Tac City Airsoft invites citizens to take law enforcement challenge

Residents can get a first-hand experience of the kinds of split-second decisions police are faced with as part of an airsoft event to show appreciation for law enforcement in Orange County.

Fullerton’s Tac City Airsoft on Saturday will host its inaugural Law Enforcement Appreciation Day to raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of Fullerton and give residents an opportunity to interact with local officers.

“We have not been happy with the negative output regarding law enforcement in the media,” said Tac City general manager Bryan Hall. “The owner wanted to give law enforcement an opportunity to interact with the public in a positive manner.

“This is going to be something that is fun, educational and will raise awareness and show appreciation for what law enforcement officers do.”

The Fullerton and Buena Park police departments, along with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department are signed on to participate in the event, but Hall said they are open to more agencies jumping in on the action.

The event will include law enforcement demonstrations, recruitment booths, a raffle for airsoft products, food and an opportunity for the public to take part in an airsoft “shoot or don’t shoot” scenario.

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tac City, 2430 Artesia Avenue in Fullerton.

The event is free, however to participate in airsoft play, Tac City is collecting an entry fee and donating all the proceeds to the Boys & Girls Club of Fullerton.

Pricing varies based on arrival time as follows:

9 – 11 a.m. entry: $5, which includes three raffle tickets and access to play in the airsoft arena.

11 a.m. – noon entry: $15, which includes two raffle tickets and access to play in the airsoft arena.

Noon – 1 p.m. entry: $20, which includes one raffle ticket and access to play in the airsoft arena.
